l conto alla rovescia sta per finire
The power of an idea multiplies exponentially when it is talked about.
The TEDxCataniaSalon – Countdown, hosted on July 3rd at Free Mind Foundry, has precisely this objective: to share valuable ideas to build a better future.
TEDx stands out for sharing ideas that deserve to be spread globally. TEDxCatania is a large organization with over 50 volunteers who invest time and passion to create events of value for our territory and for the entire planet, as in the case of TEDxCataniaSalon.
What happens around us is proof that we are all part of the same delicate and interconnected system. A system we need to take care of.
In the race towards a world with zero carbon emissions, TEDxCataniaSalon – Countdown asks five fundamental questions on energy, food, materials, nature and transport, and, through dialogue, acts as a driver of answers aiming for a more resilient and sustainable future.
At the basis of our civilization there have always been: a great culture, a stable climate and a rich biodiversity.
In three million years, the average global temperature has never exceeded the limit of 2 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial era. We are now following a path that would take us to +3 or +4 degrees in just three generations. We are moving towards an increasingly greenhouse-effect Earth.
For every 1 degree increase, a billion people will be forced to live in conditions that we now consider uninhabitable. What happens in the next 10 years will determine the state of the planet that we will hand over to the next generations.
Two frontiers will drive this transformation: the first is science. We have the knowledge and technology to halve global emissions by 2030 and halve them by 2050.
The second frontier is society: we need a new economic logic based on well-being. The era of fossil fuels is over: we must protect our oceans and our Earth.
For this reason, TEDxCatania has organized an event in which expert speakers in different sectors will participate to present the most effective ideas for answering five fundamental and interconnected questions:
Energia: quanto velocemente possiamo passare a un’energia pulita al 100%?
Transportation: How can we improve the way we move people and things?
Materials: how can we re-imagine and recreate the things around us?
Cibo: come possiamo innescare una transizione a livello mondiale verso sistemi alimentari più sani?
Nature: how can we better protect and make our planet greener?
Countdown will be an event consisting of two moments: a first session with 5 TEDx Talks and then an interactive workshop in which to share concrete actions together that can help fight climate change. The interactive workshop will take place in small groups based on the theme chosen when purchasing the ticket. Between the two sessions, a pleasant coffee break at FMF Bar & Restaurant!
If you also want to contribute to change and participate in the dialogue for a better, sustainable and safe future, don't miss the TEDxCataniaSalon. With the discount code "FreeMindFoundry", to be entered on eventora at the time of purchase, you will receive a 5 euro discount on the ticket price.
