Digital transformation, the Internet of Things and the Cloud are increasing connectivity between IT and OT (operational technology) networks, making control of the organization's perimeter increasingly complex.
As a result, the attack surface and exposure to risks increases. Nowadays, various types of attacks are recorded aimed at the theft of personal information and sensitive data for private and public bodies and organisations.
The exponential growth of these attacks has led the European Union to adopt a regulation on the processing of personal data and privacy, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force and became operational on May 25, 2018.
In conjunction with the adoption of the GDPR, the demand for IT security experts has grown three times faster than any other role in the ICT sector, while the availability of trained and specialized figures on the market has remained very low.
The 1st level Master in Cybersecurity & Defense
Starting on May 15, 2021, the 1st level Master's in Cybersecurity & Defense organized by the University of Catania in collaboration with Free Mind Foundry, is aimed at training high-level professional figures specialized in topics related to IT security, prevention and constant defense against offensive activities of resources and services.
On a merit-based basis, scholarships will be awarded to cover the total cost of the Master's degree, for 25% of admitted students. The Master provides mixed teaching: it is possible to participate in person or via live streaming.
